Portable Data Terminals With wireless barcode scanner terminals, you can take your inventory control procedures to a higher level … and ITS is here to help! Wireless terminals or mobile computers are stand-alone barcode scanning units with their own memory and computing ability. Our staff of trained barcode experts can consult on setting up a new wireless system or expanding and upgrading an existing system. We are your source for hardware, offering a wide range of terminals, accessories, parts, and service! Whether you need a lightweight scanner for retail and stocking, or a ruggedized industrial terminal for inventory and asset tracking, we have what you need. Call 888-768-5946 now and we'll make sure you get the right scanner. Speak to our government/healthcare sales manager, Bruce Lau, for information on special packages for hospitals and clinics that are building new wireless tracking systems or expanding existing set-ups -- get the hardware and labels you need for one low price. To find the right scanner for your application, one of the first things you'll want to decide is what type of wireless capability you need. The basic choice is between a "batch" terminal or an RF terminal. Batch terminals function independently but do not have a wireless radio connection to the host computer; instead, the unit simply stores information to be downloaded to the host computer later. For many purposes, batch capability is sufficient and more cost-effective. For instantaneous communication, you will need a RF terminal, i.e. one that uses some type of wireless radio communication. There are several types of radio communication available in scanners, including 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11a, and Bluetooth. Which one you need will depend on your specific environment and useage needs. Give us a call at 888-768-5946 to discuss which one is right for you. Portable data terminals are available with your choice of operating systems. For advanced applications, we offer the impressive mobile computing power of Windows CE©, Windows Mobile©, or Windows Pocket PC©, or the familiar flexibility of Palm© operating system. However, many customers prefer a simple yet robust DoS-based terminal. For information on wireless networks and access points, click here.
