To find the right scanner for your application, one of the first things you'll want to decide is what type of wireless capability you need. The basic choice is between a "batch" terminal or an RF terminal. Batch terminals function independently but do not have a wireless radio connection to the host computer; instead, the unit simply stores information to be downloaded to the host computer later. For many purposes, batch capability is sufficient and more cost-effective. For instantaneous communication, you will need a RF terminal, i.e. one that uses some type of wireless radio communication. There are several types of radio communication available in scanners, including 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11a, and Bluetooth. Which one you need will depend on your specific environment and useage needs. Portable data terminals are available with your choice of operating systems. For advanced applications, we offer the impressive mobile computing power of Windows CE©, Windows Mobile©, or Windows Pocket PC©, or the familiar flexibility of Palm© operating system.
